About Wait or Fly
Wait or Fly puts two numbers next to each other: how long people wait for a procedure at home, and what clinics abroad publish as the price. It covers five procedures and eight countries, for readers in the UK, Canada, Ireland and the US.
Why it exists
Waiting lists for scans, endoscopy and eye surgery are long in several public systems, and cash prices in the US are high. Ads for treatment abroad are everywhere, but the numbers behind them are hard to check: a broker's “from” price, a forum post, a figure with no date. We collect only prices that clinics or official schedules publish themselves, read each one, write down what it includes, and put it next to the official waiting figure at home.
What we check
- Every price and waiting figure links to the page or document it comes from and shows the date we read it.
- Where a provider does not say what is included, we say “not stated”.
- Where we could not find a price, there is no page. We do not estimate.
The rules and the full ledger are on how we check prices and waiting times.
What we are not
- We are not a clinic, broker or medical-travel agency. We do not book treatment or take commissions.
- We do not give medical advice, and the pages have not been reviewed by a doctor. See the medical disclaimer.
- We are not affiliated with the NHS, the HSE, any Canadian provincial plan, or any clinic or hospital named on the site.
How the site is paid for
The site is free and shows no ads today. We may add Google AdSense later; if we do, we will add a consent tool for visitors in Europe first and update the privacy policy. No clinic pays to be listed, and if that ever changed this page would say so first.
